Ash Manor Sports Centre

Ash Manor Sports Centre needed to upgrade their portable sound system on a budget and wanted the additions to be integrated into the proposed new system in next years budget

We opted to replace the aging 10″ speakers with 15″ high power units that are capable of handling the digital power of the proposed STA-500D class D amplifier. A stand alone BT-1B Bluetooth adaptor was also added to the system so that near field connectivity was catered for

Southcote Primary School, Reading

We have served Southcote Primary School in Reading for many years and we were very pleased to be asked to upgrade the main hall sound system to include two new specialist CD players – the first was a CD-112BT offering CD, USB and SD card playback and Bluetooth connectivity. The second unit was an AD-400 which provided CD, USB and SD card playback and an FM radio

The combination of these two media players provides the school with up to date sound system functions for drama, music, assemblies and parent evenings etc.

Christmas at Calthorpe Park

21st December 2017 and it’s the last day of term. Around 1000 young people crowded the old sports hall for the Calthorpe Park Christmas Assembly – great jollity arose from festive humour interspersed with anecdotes and wonderful music. Even the teachers sang!

Sound Services supplied and installed the 2000w sound system on short term hire – we used 3 amplifiers, a mixing desk and 2 sub-mixers, 16 speakers, 6 wireless mics, 12 cabled mics, 2 DI boxes and what appeared to be miles of cable and gaffa tape!

A great event that tells us all that Christmas has arrived

Every day is a school day!

You are never too old to learn, Earlier today we had a panic phone call from a customer who had a recent wireless microphone installation – while using the system at the Infant School Nativity the sound system ‘failed’ in a somewhat magnificent way. The problem was described as the sound a a squadron of Chinooks flying over the school hall

We donned protective gear, called out the combined RAF and UFO Investigators and rushed to the scene of the problem – to find, after a little exploratory work, that the batteries in the entry level wireless microphone transmitters had reached the end of their useful life and were not allowing the receivers to handshake and pair correctly – the receivers were not muting the noise

Changing the transmitter batteries put the Nativity back on track. The moral is try the simplest, obvious solutions first, have a great Christmas

St Thomas on the Bourne, Farnham

Sound Services were able to modify the sound system at Farnham’s St Thomas on the Bourne Church today so that they can easily use a laptop’s audio output through a spare mic line. A fairly simple addition of a DI box and associated cabling has made their system a lot more versatile

While on site we also looked at the Centenary Rooms extension with a view to fitting a new sound and induction loop system with radiomics so that those who are hard of hearing are more involved with all meetings and gatherings

Hays Recruitment

Sound services are pleased to have worked on behalf of The Experience at Hays Recruiting in The City yesterday. Our remit was to ascertain why their premium quality sound equipment was not performing to expectations. We found major issues with the set-up of the wireless mics, the impedance matching of the amplifier to the speakers and the way the mixer was connected to the amplifier. Having sorted these issues the client was satisfied that the equipment would be OK for the meeting that evening.

The system requires more attention but  Hays are now able to use the equipment that was not purchased from us

Army Golf Club

We originally supplied a sound system and wireless mics to the Army Golf Club around 15 years ago so we were very pleased that they came back to Sound services to bring the system up to date in 2017

We enabled their TV sound, MP3 player and new radiomics to be controlled and routed by their new 5 input, 4 zone control amplifier

And for AGM’s and the like they now have 4 hand held wireless mics and a cable mic so everyone should be heard
